Whether or not we like
it, we have involuntarily
joined a very exclusive
club. About 1 in every
400 children and adol-
escents has Type 1
Diabetes (T1D). To many of us, the diagnosis came as a complete shock. Still others saw the possibility in their genetics and hoped it wouldn't come to pass. But rest assured, our club is filled with the most supportive, capable, and loving people I have ever met. And this website will hopefully be a collaboration of the best experience, ideas, and advice parents have to offer.

Keep in mind that any advice given or suggestions made should always be discussed with the medical professionals in your child's life. The content of this site is contributed strictly from parents and not paid professionals. But much of what parents have to say is helpful. The day-to-day management of T1D can be daunting. And support, especially from those who are in your shoes, can only help in the pursuit to keep your child healthy and happy.

In 2007, our then 2-year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Living in a very small town did not present many opportunities to meet others in our situation. The internet became my tool to learn about Hayden's condition, connect with other families, and find the very best treatment available to him.

This website is dedicated to connecting those with common concerns, providing information, and offering resources to better manage our children's condition. Ultimately, this site is intended to help make your journey, and ours, a little easier.

Please know you are not alone. I am sure many of you, like me, never thought you would find yourself in this situation. Remember that all we can do is our best every day in coping with the present and hope for a better future for our children.
